In the spring of 2023, I experienced a trifecta of a mild concussion, coronavirus, and a seven-day migraine. I believe it was a combination of these factors that precipitated a euphoria unlike anything I have experienced in my life to date, which arose alongside intense physical pain and discomfort, and within the social isolation of illness and infirmity. The euphoria was, I realized later, following the death of famous meditation teacher Sally Kempton and a perusal of her writings and interviews on the subject, the first part of a Kundalini event—followed by the inevitable arising of psychic sludge that comes after to be reconciled. The thirteen watercolour and ink paintings in this exhibition present a non-linear narrative of my process through this energetic experience, which, in changing ways, continues.
